Become a member of the Louisiana Folklore Society

The Louisiana Folklore Society was founded in 1956 to encourage the study, documentation, and accurate representation of the traditional cultures of Louisiana. Our members include university professors, professional folklorists in the public sector, secondary school teachers, museum workers, graduate students, and other individuals interested in Louisiana's traditions and cultural groups.

Membership benefits include:
- Louisiana Folklore Miscellany, an annual publication of articles, notes, and commentaries on all aspects of Louisiana folklore and folklife
- Connection to the state network of folklore and folklife individuals, community groups, artists, museums, and other organizations
- Receiving news about the annual meeting, call for papers and presentations, and the Bayou Culture Collaborative 
- A means to connect to the national folklore and folklife network including the American Folklore Society and Federal agencies and funding opportunities
